ACE GOLDEN EDDIE FILMMAKER OF THE YEAR HONOR

AWARD TO BE PRESENTED BY MEL GIBSON, FRANK URIOSTE, A.C.E. AND STUART BAIRD A.C.E. AT THE 59TH ANNUAL ACE EDDIE AWARDS ON FEBRUARY 15TH AT THE BEVERLY HILTON HOTEL

Prolific filmmaker Richard Donner, has been selected by the Board of Directors of the American Cinema Editors (ACE) to be honored with the organization's prestigious ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award.Mel Gibson will present the honor at the 59th Annual ACE Eddie Awards ceremony on Sunday, February 15, 2009 in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel, it was officially announced today by the ACE Board of Directors.

"Richard Donner is one of the most successful and well respected filmmakers in this industry," stated the ACE Board of Directors. "His incredibly varied body of work includes films that have been engaging, inspiring and entertaining audiences for over 40 years. He single-handedly created a new genre when he directed SUPERMAN, re-invented a genre with THE OMEN and created two of the most successful film franchises in Hollywood history with the LEATHAL WEAPON and X-MEN films. His love and respect for the craft of editing is well known so it gives our organization great delight to present him with our highest honor for his tremendous achievements. "

Donner's films have earned billions around the world. His directorial credits include THE OMEN, SUPERMAN, SUPERMAN II, LETHAL WEAPON, LETHAL WEAPON 2, LETHAL WEAPON 3, LETHAL WEAPON 4, MAVERICK, SCROOGED, CONSPIRACY THEORY, THE GOONIES and 16 BLOCKS, among others. As a producer, his films credits include the FREE WILLY franchise, ANY GIVEN SUNDAY, the X-MEN franchise and many others. Donner's work also extends to the small screen where he has directed episodes of "The Fugitive," "Ironside," "The Six Million Dollar Man," "Kojak," Tales from the Crypt," and "The Wild Wild West," among many others.

ACE, the entertainment industry's honorary society of film editors, is comprised of over 600 accomplished editors working in film and television. The ACE Eddie Awards recognize outstanding editing in nine categories of film, television and documentaries.
